For decades I have been growing and producing small parcels of balanced, nervy wines. Today I own two vineyards in Burgundy's southernmost reaches in the historic Appellation Protegées of Morgon and Fleurie. Organically farmed and made with minimal interventions, my two wines precisely express the "where" more than the "who". Pull up a chair and check them out.

"A sensational wine! A textbook example of a Cru that displays a strong sense of place. Medium deep, violet color, wonderful purity and intensity with the aroma. Red fruit galore: dark cherry, red raspberry, savory spice, and ample weight on the palate. Beautifully ripe, seamlessly smooth, layered, nuanced, lifted acidity, impeccably balanced with some taunt, yet ripe tannins on the back palate. With about an hour of aeration, the range and intensity of the wine is magnified. It’ll age gracefully for another decade. Produced from low yield, high density, seventy-year-old vines from a raised elevation vineyard site. Not fined or filtered. A wine with the “it factor”!"

"Morgon new-comer Jonathan Pey is to be followed if this inaugural vintage is any indication of what is to come. This organically-farmed wine from 71-year-old vines grown on pink-granite soil has a complex nose of dried-crushed blackberry, a dollop of raspberry puree, oolong tea, pencil shavings, dried grape stem and forest floor. Subtlety is this wine's love language with some background herbal notes piercing the veil of fruit at occasional moments along the length of the taste."

“A bright, vibrant, delicious style, with a fragrant thread of dried rose petal, violet and dusty earth overlaying sweet notes of wild raspberry and dried strawberry. Shows harmony and integration, offering graphite energy from start to finish. Anise, smoke and dried herb hints arrive on the medium-length, snappy close.”
