Domaine Jonathan Pey Morgon "Bellevue" Cru

2022 Gamay Noir

Domaine Jonathan Pey - Morgon Cru Bellevue Gamay Noir 2022 bottle

If you love Pinot Noir, you will love Gamay from Domaine Jonathan Pey Morgon "Cru". More Pinot Noir in style than Cabernet Sauvignon, it is a deep ruby-red and intensely aromatic. This velvety, high-toned old-vine Gamay has a nervy backbone and cellaring potential of up to 10 years.

Origine

  • Three estate acres in Morgon and two estate acres in Fleurie
  • Estate grown, vinified, matured, and bottled by Jonathan Pey
  • Organically farmed. Dry farmed.
  • 1,300' altitude in Morgon's renown lieu-dit of "Bellevue"
  • 70 year-old vines (planted 1953) - Deep, ancient, eroded pink granite soil
  • High-density planting (10,400 vines/hectare) on a 22% southeast slope
  • Best served very slightly chilled

Tasting Notes

This is a minimal intervention, naturally-made red wine and thus it may contain harmless fine sediment. Deep ruby-red, intensely aromatic, this velvety, high-toned old-vine Gamay has a nervy backbone and cellaring potential of up to 10 years. Cheeses, roasted meats, anything umami.
